Description

As Google is our number one search engine and it has a mail server the instant messaging software came to complete the circle. You can use it to talk with your friends with Gmail accounts. Send them instant messaging for free, call them on their computers or send them offline voicemails also for free.

System Requirements

In order to use it you have to have a Google account. It works on:

• Windows 2000
• Windows XP (Home and professional)
• Windows Vista
• Windows Server 2003

Also you have to have at least a connection of 56k (dial-up connection)

Features

Download the software and sign in with you Gmail account. After that it will import all your contacts, even though they are from another mail server and you can invite who ever you want.

You can add yourself some friends, you can choose to view one page, to sort friends by name, to show their pictures, to show offline friends and show all address book accounts.

Choose to chat free with your friends, send them file thru this application, email them, view past chats with a certain person or you can even block them on your account.

You can set up your status, using a standard one or compose one yourself. It doesn’t have any emoticons, or this kind of happy little stuff.

When you have mails a little message will appear right near your computer clock and you can set up to receive notification when a friend comes online. Set up your sounds, audios and even set up to remember your chating history.

Go to appearance settings and you can customize your instant messaging window. Choose the classic view, the classic view with picture, bubble, bubble with picture (see image),

orkut, orkut picture, ping pong picture(see image), serene, serene picture, swiss and swiss picture.

In the bottom of the application you will have a shortcut button to enter fast your gmail and also to listen immediately your voicemail.

History

They first launched it on 23 of August 2005 but it had a big bug that no one could enter it. So the official launch was the next day after they fixed it, on 24 of August 2005. 7 February 2006 - you can chat now with a Jabber client 31 October 2006 – from now you can send offline messages thru Googla talk. 14 March 2007 – released Google talk gadget that can be added to iGoogle.
